The Moments in Between
The most recent installment for Scheff’s Latest is a tune composed for Jewels some 20 years ago entitled “The Moments in Between.” So while this composition is quite old — this is the first time it has been published. I’ve toyed around with lyrics for the verses, but haven’t settled on anything yet. I’m hoping my upcoming collaboration with world-class cellist, Mahsa, will give me some renewed inspiration. Concerto
“Concerto” is my performing show piece that used to highlight my finger dexterity while always grabbing the full attention of my audience. I can no longer play it at the speed I performed it at in For Those Still Awake and Those Who Never Slept — but it still impresses my audience when I sit down at a piano. This composition is close to 40-years-old and is the first song on the “woke” album — recorded in Bob Seger’s, then preferred, Birmingham, Michigan recording studio — where I played the piano oft used by Rick Manasa in my 1980 sessions. If you listen carefully you might hear the Moody Blues “Nights in White Satin” influence. And, this really isn’t a Concerto…
