Sadness is on my album For Those Still Awake and Those Who Never Slept (1980). (I like to think that this title heralded the ‘woke’ movement.) Sadness was composed in late Autumn of 1977 for then girlfriend (and later Wife #1) who attempted a foray into music with her recorder (mini flute) while I accompanied her on the piano. Originally called Nancy’s Song — it was renamed following our divorce. In the wake of Muse Lynne’s passing — I have found myself playing it quite a bit.
